iris hosts procurement breakfast

Friday, November 27th, 2009

A group of procurement professionals who came together to discuss burning topics in an open and honest forum. Read more…
We recently (26th November) held our second Procurement Breakfast here at iris towers, to encourage positive dialogue between agencies, marketing and procurement and to step away from the outdated and negative perceptions held by some in our industry. We had a great mix of marketing procurement specialists form many different backgrounds who came down to hear Jane Dormer (Head of Procurement for Coca-Cola, UK & Ireland), Tony Squires (Procurement Consultant at 4C Consulting) and Tony Spong (Business Director at the AAR) discuss best practice and the burning issues facing the industry, whilst enjoying a bacon bap.
Insights and thoughts were given into rebuilding fee structures and asking agencies to accept risk and reward, performance related contracts, which everyone agreed helps to strengthen relationships between all involved. Other topics covered where best ways to establish trust and dialogue between procurement and agencies and also how looking at procurement as part of the mix provides the opportunity to reassess internal processes (or as Tony Spong at the AAR put it ‘tidy the garage’).
These mornings provide an excellent insight into how others are doing things and are a great opportunity to gain knowledge, particularly by those slightly less experienced, and network with fellow professionals. The breakfasts are proving very popular indeed and we hope to grow them into a very well respected forum that helps to shape the future of procurement as there is still so much room to grow and good work to do.
If you would like to come along to our next Procurement Specials morning towards the end of February, please click here with your details.
