iris opens Shanghai office
January 20th, 2010
iris has today announced the launch of its Shanghai office, just 9 months after the integrated agency’s entry into the Chinese market with a Beijing office.
David King, Regional CEO China said: “China is one of the fastest growing communications markets in the world and a presence in Shanghai has always been planned to service our regional and global clients.
“Whilst our Beijing office will continue to focus primarily on the Sony Ericsson business, the new Shanghai office is already scoping a number of exciting projects for multiple clients and we will be making announcements in due course. In the meantime, we are actively recruiting at all levels to grow our initial core team in Shanghai.” he continued.
King, who was appointed last year from RAPP China where he was managing director, has lived and worked in Shanghai for 8 years. He will initially take a hands-on role in running the Shanghai office as he looks to grow the team.
King believes that iris’ approach, rooted in the philosophy to “Be Better”, will strike a chord in Shanghai: ”iris is very well placed to take advantage of clients seeking a credible, truly integrated alternative to the more traditional network agencies. We can provide a leaner, faster, better value solution – something clients in China have been demanding for some time, but not getting”.
Ian Millner, CEO of iris said, “Our intent is to become the leading integrated marketing agency worldwide and we see China as a key market for our growth and development. We can deliver integration in a way that the other networks can’t and offer specialism in high growth disciplines like digital and experiential and it’s this new model proposition, coupled with the fact that we’re independent and agile, that we believe will resonate with the market”.
iris has already established a strong foothold in Asia Pacific, with offices in India, Singapore and Australia and in December was named Mid-Sized Network of the Year by Media magazine. Last year iris announced a strategic partnership with agency Edge, giving the network presence in Vietnam, Singapore and Thailand and as one of the fastest growing agency micro-networks in the region as well as globally, plans to continue to strengthen its presence in Asia.
